'Sexually Violent' Offender Convicted Of Attempted Rape Reports Move In Briarcliff Manor

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of kidnapping and attempting to rape a 24-year-old woman has reported a move in Westchester County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 56-year-old Leon Street, who has moved from to a residence on Sleepy Hollow Road in Briarcliff Manor.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Street as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Street unlawfully imprisoned his victim and had deviate sexual intercourse with her in March 1987. He used threats and coercions during the act and was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in November 1987. Street was sentenced to a term of five to 10 years in prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Briarcliff Manor Village Police Department.
